// Biography

Peter Knockaert (°1980) studied classical guitar and composition at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. As a classical guitarist he studied with great Guitar Masters Alberto Ponce, Marco Socias, Eduardo Isaac, Roland Broux, Yves Storms and Pavel Steidl. He won several prizes in guitar contests and later-on joined guitar quartet Quadrant. With Quadrant, he played on national and international podia and festivals and also recorded the album ‘Viaje al Sur’ for the national classical broadcasting company Klara with new original compositions.In his role as a composer he especially stands out by his versitality; children’s songs, musical, solo pieces, chamber music, works for symphonic orchestra, wind band, brassband and fanfare. He wrote music for film, TV and theatre. Aside from being a 'classical' composer he also produces pop/electronic/dance music.Through the last 20 years Peter Knockaert partnered up with many orchestras/ensembles/choirs: Hermes Ensemble, Casco Phil, Brussels Symphonic Orchestra, Anima Eterna, BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, International Opera Academy, Rise Up, Just Music, Belgian Brass, … and worked closely with great artists/composers like Otto M. Schwarz, Thomas Doss, Franco Cesarini, Hermann Pallhuber, Johan De Meij, Philip Sparke, Bert Appermont, Tim Minchin, André De Groote, Frédéric Devreese, Dirk Brossé, Jos Van Immerseel, Eliane Rodrigues, Jan Van der Roost, François Glorieux, Benjamin Haemhouts, Annelies Van Parys, Wim Henderickx, Hanne Deneire, Berten d’Hollander, Steve Willaert, Hannes De Maeyer, Jan Depreter, Diana Blom, …In the world of music publishing Peter Knockaert has an undisputed reputation through his expertise in music engraving/notation combined with layout/graphics (clients include Symphonic Dimensions, Hal Leonard, Metropolis Music, deHaske, Lake Music, Golden River Music, Chanterelle, Pelckmans, Amstel Music, Beriato Music, Mitropa Music, Scherzando Music, Opera Ballet Vlaanderen, VRT, Orpheus Instituut, Festival van Vlaanderen, UA Universiteit Antwerpen, Studio100, Luc Stevens Producties, Muziektheater Transparant, Koor en Stem, …).Since 2013 Peter Knockaert teaches Music Notation at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp.
